Principal's Message
Welcome back Wizards to the 2024-25 school year! We are thrilled to have our students back, filling our school with enthusiasm and energy.
At Cortez, we work hard to help our Wizards feel welcomed and connected to our Cortez family by getting to know them throughout the year. We strive to challenge our students to grow in their academic abilities and work towards reaching college and career readiness as they progress through the years. Our teachers are dedicated to ensuring your child’s success by utilizing research-based programs that work at your child’s ability level. We incorporate 21st-century skills into various aspects of instructional technology, along with a commitment to science and math through project-based learning and utilizing our nationally recognized STEM lab for upper grades.
We know that achieving success for your child involves a partnership between school and home. Together, we can make a significant difference in your child’s education. As partners, we will work hard to carry out our responsibilities and ask that you support your child’s learning by ensuring they:
- Attend school daily, on time, and ready to learn. Attendance is vital.
- Complete all homework assignments provided by the teacher.
- Actively communicate with the teacher through REMIND or email, informing us of any changes.
- Take the time to read at home with your child, as comprehension comes with reading fluency.
Working together will help improve our communication and ensure your child's success. I look forward to seeing everyone again and meeting all our new Wizards joining us for the first time. As always, “It’s a Great Day to be a Wizard!”
