Principal's Message

Welcome to all our new and returning Wizards for the 2023-24 school year! We are excited to have students back, filling our school with enthusiasm and energy.

We work hard to help our Wizards feel welcomed and connected to our Cortez family by getting to know them throughout the year. We strive to challenge our students to grow in their academic abilities and work towards reaching college and career readiness as they progress through the years. Our teachers are dedicated to ensuring your child’s success by utilizing research-based programs that work at your child’s ability level. We incorporate 21st century skills into our various aspects of instructional technology. As well as a commitment to science and math through project-based learning projects and utilizing our nationally recognized STEM lab for upper grades.

We know that to achieve success for your child, the partnership between school and home will make a difference in your child’s education. As partners, we will work hard to ensure we carry out our responsibilities and ask that you support your child’s learning by ensuring that they:

    • Attend school daily, on time, and ready to learn.
    • Complete all homework assignments provided by the teacher.
    • Actively communicate with the teacher through REMIND or email, informing us of any changes.
    • Take the time to read at home with your child. Comprehension comes with reading fluency.

Working together will help improve our communication and help ensure the success of your child. I look forward to seeing everyone again and meeting all our new Wizards joining us for the first time. As always, “It’s a Great Day to be a Wizard!”
