Principal's Message
As the principal at Cortez, it is my pleasure to welcome our Wizards to the 2022-23 school year! We are excited to have our students back with us, filling our school with their enthusiasm and energy for learning.
We work hard to help our Wizards feel welcomed and connected to our Cortez family by getting to know them throughout the year. We strive to challenge our students to grow in their academic abilities and work towards reaching college and career readiness as they progress through the years. Our teachers are dedicated to ensuring your child’s success by utilizing research based programs which work at your child’s ability level. We incorporate 21st century skills into our various aspects of instructional technology. As well as a commitment to science and math through project based learning projects as well as utilizing our Nationally recognized STEM lab for upper graders.
We know that in order to achieve success for your child, the partnership between school and home will make a difference in your child’s education. As partners, we will work hard to ensure we carry out our responsibilities and ask that you support your child’s learning by ensuring that they:
- Attend school daily, on time and ready to learn.
- Complete all homework assignments provided by the teacher.
- Actively communicate with the teacher through REMIND or email, keeping us informed of any changes.
- Take the time to read at home with your child. Comprehension comes with reading fluency.
Working together will help improve our communication and help ensure the success of your child. I look forward to seeing everyone again and meeting all our new Wizards joining us for the first time. As always, “It’s a Great Day to be a Wizard!”
